As the new school year begins, Continental Aerospace Technologies wanted to impact our local community while supporting some local students and teachers. As a company in the aerospace industry, we understand the importance of having access to the right tools and materials. However, we know that many students and teachers might not have access to the tools they need, so we decided to host a back-to-school supply drive with an aviation-themed twist.
Earlier this Summer, we challenged the Continental team to fill one of our flying club airplanes with school supplies to be donated to two local schools near our facilities. Our Mobile and Fairhope facilities set up a collection point where team members could drop off pens, notebooks, paper, scissors, backpacks and more. After starting the supply drive, we received tremendous support from the Continental Team since we all recall what it was like to begin a new school year.
In total, the Continental team collected over 15 large boxes of school supplies filled with all of the tools that a student or teacher might reach for during the year. With all of the supplies collected, the team surpassed its goal of filling a plane. As a result, we filled our Diamond DA20 aircraft to the top of the canopy before delivering the donations to two local schools. Continental’s Corporate Citizenship Committee even awarded monetary contributions to each school to go towards the use of a new printer and additional backpacks.
We are incredibly proud of our generous team for making every effort to support their community. We hope that these tools will make the 2022 school year a little easier. Our best wishes go out to all for a successful and fun school year!
